We know a few things about Greece. We know it’s beautiful. We know its food is delicious – hot, herby roasted lamb, salty cheese and olives, charred seafood. We know the Greeks love music, and that they love to party.

What we don’t know as much about is its wine. Greece is the oldest wine-producing region in Europe, and one of the oldest in the world. Wine is made all over – from the Aegean and Ionian Islands, to Macedonia and Crete – and is as complex, refined, interesting and enjoyable as anything else out there.

Oinofilia is a proper celebration of Greek wine and culture, delivered in true Bottle Shop Concepts’ fashion.

Happening at Meat Market, Blackwood Street North Melbourne on June 24.

THE WINES

Around 14 producers will bring over 50 different wines from all over Greece for tastings on the day. All will also be available to taste (including in your ticket price) and or buy by the glass or bottle. Oh, and of course there will be Greek beers and ouzo!

THE SOMMELIER TOUCH

To help you navigate your way on the day, we’ll have some of Melbourne’s best Sommeliers on hand to help guide you. But in the lead up, we’ll be asking them for their hints and tips learn more as to what makes this countries wine so unique. So keep an eye on the UPDATES!

The food

Our favourite Cretan restaurant, ELYROS, is on board with its sister EPOCHA, putting on a serious spread to soak up all that delicious wine. On the menu will be dishes like Greek roast lamb shoulder, kalitsounia (Cretan pies), a mezze bar, oysters and so much more. Kathy Tsaples from SWEET GREEK will be there, bringing her incredible food (including the best spanakopita and galaktoboureko you’ll ever eat) to the table. And that’s just the tip… there will be more. Kali orexi!

Come on down for this incredible, one-day Greek fest, celebrating the absolute best of this wonderful country.
